This is just a very simple script pull up a browser on any Wikipedia article. It isn't very fancy, and I mainly use it on a Mac. For Linux-folk using Gnome, just change the last line to call gnome-open instead of open.

This is just aimed at scratching a personal itch, but if it useful to you, you are very welcome to take it, modify it or do what you like. If it eats your cat, or spills your pint, I take no responsibility.

Instructions

1. Download the wiki PHP script
2. Save it somewhere convenient (e.g. on your path)
3. Make it executable: chmod a+x wiki
4. Run the script from a terminal, e.g. wiki may day will take you to the May Day article.

You can use this to search on any MediaWiki-powered site, just add an entry to $urls and symlink the name. e.g. for the Buzz Out Loud one, you would run ln -s wiki bol from the command-line.

Prerequisites:

• Command-line PHP (you may need to adjust the path in the top line)
