Reacting to local spam

We can fight spam by all reacting locally.

Whenever I get a UK-based piece of spam with a phone number, I give them a call to confirm it's them. If they have a reputable ISP, I shop them to their ISP. Hopefully we can make the costs of dealing with complaints or a broken internet connection higher than the the marginal return they get from dopes buying their service.

We still need better ways to wind up local spammers where we can't trace their ISP. I'm guessing having many, many people call up to enquire about their services might do the trick.

This is becoming more useful now, since there has been a little test case in the UK in the Small Claims Court. We should be able to make it very cheap to gather the paperwork together to slap spammers, until we banish them from our shores. If our colleagues abroad do the same, we might actually have a more useful email system again.
