Most mobile phones have the ability to choose a ringtone for each person, or group of people.
The trouble with that is that I can't be bothered making tones for everyone, and it would probably melt its tiny little brain anyway.
Instead, I'd like it to go drrring-drring (like any old phone, just as it does at the moment) a couple of times, then squick out the person's name, from my address-book, in morse code (or your favourite form of sonic text).
Job done. Easy to understand. You wouldn't even really learn morse, necessarily, just the pattern for different people. (Just as people associate SMS in morse with a text message, not because they know, necessarily, but in a more Pavlovian manner).
(I'm sure you could run the text through a speech synth, but somehow that's much more shouty in whatever room you are in. With morse, it'd just about work on vibrate too.)
