The ales are good, and often a little more interesting than other places around here. Right now they have the superb Adnams' Old Ale on, which I've not seen in other Adnams haunts around London.
I've not tried, given the decent ale, but it's nice to see things like Moretti on tap, rather than the usual lager suspects.
The food here isn't the cheapest, but is very good indeed. Most of the other pubs I like around here are the cookie-cutter Mitchell & Butler brandless chain places. They're good places but this place, and its sister the Anglesea, are a cut above.
The service is a little random, but I find that more endearing and human than annoying.
